The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team fell to Augusta State University 9-0 in Peach Belt Conference action March 6.

Montevallo (2-9 overall, 0-5 in Peach Belt Conference) dropped all nine matches, but had some solid play in both singles’ and doubles’ matches.

Junior Helene Nordgreen battled a regionally ranked player in No. 2 singles’ match and fell 6-3, 6-0. Nordgreen also teamed up with senior Calli Robinson to take on a regionally ranked doubles’ team in the No. 1 doubles’ match and fell 8-2.

Robinson competed as the No. 1 singles’ player for the first time all season and fell 6-3, 6-0. Senior Kodi Bobo lost the No. 3 singles’ match 6-2, 6-1. Sophomore Amy McGucken dropped the No. 4 singles’ match 6-3, 6-0.

Freshman Kayla Hackett, a Chelsea graduate, fell in the No. 5 singles’ match 6-1, 6-2. Senior Hayley Gant fell in the No. 6 singles’ match 6-0, 6-0.

Bobo and Hackett teamed up for No. 2 doubles’ match and fell 8-3. McGucken and freshman Yulia Shvetsova fell in the No. 3 doubles’ match 8-0.
