Thompson sweeps Jemison in tennis match

The Thompson High School girls’ tennis team defeated Jemison 9-0 in a high school tennis match March 1.

The Warriors (4-0) won all six singles’ matches and all three doubles’ matches against Jemison.

Laura Harwell of Thompson defeated Brooke Bice of Jemison 8-0 in the No. 1 singles’ match. The Warriors’ Erin Hutter defeated Tiffany Griffin of Jemison 8-0 in the No. 2 singles’ match.

Maria Siow of Thompson defeated Jemison’s Macey Thompson 8-2 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Victoria Killingsworth of Thompson defeated Marissa Jones of Jemison 8-1 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Thompson’s Maci Hendrix defeated Haley Smithermann of Jemison 8-2 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Olivia Sorrell of Thompson defeated Carley Pate of Jemison 8-0 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Hutter and Siow defeated Bice and Smithermann 8-1 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Harwell and Killingsworth defeated Griffin and Sara Bentley of Jemison 8-0 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

Courtney Foster and Emily Bolling of Thompson defeated Thompson and Jones 8-1 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.

Anna Conn of Thompson defeated Sara Bentley of Jemison 6-1 in an exhibition singles’ match. The Warriors’ Jordan Hall defeated Cindy Chinn of Jemison 6-0 in an exhibition singles’ match.

Madison Layton and Madison Cheek of Thompson defeated Pate and Chinn 6-1 in an exhibition doubles’ match.

BOYS

The Thompson High School boys’ tennis team fell to Jemison 6-3 in high school tennis action March 1.

The Warriors won two singles’ match and one doubles’ match against Jemison.

Wes Robinson of Thompson defeated Cole Thompson of Jemison 8-3 in the No. 1 singles’ match. The Warriors’ Tyler Shaw defeated Drew Posey of Jemison 8-5 in the No. 2 singles’ match.

Cameron Faulkner of Thompson fell to Jemison’s William Morton 8-2 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Tony Pendleton of Thompson fell to Taylor Long of Jemison 9-7 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Thompson’s Clay Anthony fell to Andrew Morton of Jemison 8-0 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Jared Pendleton-Cowsar of Thompson fell to Jake Long of Jemison 8-2 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Robinson and Shaw defeated Posey and Jordan Jones of Jemison 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Faulkner and Anthony fell to Morton and Jake Long 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

Tony Pendleton and Jared Pendleton-Cowsar fell to their Jemison opponents 8-5 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.
