The Cornerstone Christian School baseball team fell to Bessemer Academy 10-3 in its season-opening game March 1.

Chase Payne led the Chargers (0-1) at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Dylan Rodgers went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Sterling Reither finished 2-for-2 and drove in a run.

Stephan Young went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Eric Braun also scored a run in the defeat.

Rodgers started on the mound and took the loss after giving up six earned runs with four walks and a strikeout in 2 2/3 innings.
