Falcons drop tennis match against West Alabama

The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team dropped a match with the University of West Alabama 9-0 in college tennis action Feb. 23.
Montevallo (2-5) dropped all six singles’ matches and all three doubles’ matches against West Alabama.
The Falcons’ best efforts came in the No. 1 and No. 3 singles’ matches.
Montevallo junior Helene Nordgreen dropped the No. 1 singles’ match 6-2, 6-2 to Natalia Cardenas of West Alabama. Montevallo freshman Kayla Hackett, a Chelsea graduate, fell to Katy Shoptaugh of West Alabama 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles’ match.
Calli Robinson of Montevallo dropped the No. 2 singles’ match to Angy Cuellar of West Alabama 6-2, 6-2. Kodi Bobo of Montevallo fell to Emily Gerding of West Alabama 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles’ match.
The Falcons’ Amy McGucken fell to Dasha Popova of West Alabama 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Hayley Gant of Montevallo fell to Courtney McDonald of West Alabama 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles’ match.
Norgreen and Robinson fell to Gerding and Cardendas 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Hackett and Bobo fell to Shoptaugh and Popova 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.
McGucken and Yulia Shvetsova of Montevallo fell to Cuellar and McDonald 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.
