Susannah Whitney Higgins, daughter of Andy Higgins of Birmingham and Vicki Higgins of Calera and Mitchell Austin Moreland, son of Charles and Angie Moreland of Amory, Miss., are pleased to announce their engagement.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Marjorie Ray Bills and the late Tom Bills of Adamsville and the late Mr. John Henry and Bobbie Jo Higgins of Columbiana. Susannah graduated from Shelby County High School and is a graduate of the University of Montevallo. She is a second grade teacher at Oak Mountain Elementary School.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Dr. Dyer and Fleda Baines Carlisle of Birmingham and the late Mr. Richard Elgin and Billie Howell Moreland of Amory, Miss.  Mitch graduated from Amory High School and then attended Mississippi State University until the Texas Rangers drafted him in 2007. He signed with the Rangers following his junior season at MSU.

The maid of honor will be Mallory Moreland, and the best man will be Charles Moreland.

The wedding is planned for Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa, Birmingham.
