Oak Mountain falls in Lakeshore Shootout semifinals

The Oak Mountain High School boys’ soccer team fell to Hoover 2-1 on penalty kicks in the Lakeshore Shootout A Division tournament Feb. 19.
Hoover scored a goal in the ninth minute of the first half to give the Buccaneers a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Christian Adkins tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the second half off an assist from teammate John Imwalle.
Hoover edged the Eagles 5-4 in the penalty-kick round to advance to the Lakeshore Shootout championship match.
The Eagles (3-1-1) wrapped up pool play in the Lakeshore Shootout with a 5-0 win over Prattville.
Imwalle and Caleb Thomas led Oak Mountain with two goals each in the victory.
Brandt Mace also scored a goal in the win over the Lions.
Oak Mountain defeated Clay-Chalkville 5-0 in pool play Feb. 18.
Imwalle, Mace, Hall, Chad Carpenter and Danny La Rota scored one goal each in the victory. Adkins, Rodrigo Maciel and Lerdo de Tejada finished with an assist each in the win.
Spain Park recorded two wins and a loss in the Lakeshore Shootout pool play in the A Division.
The Jaguars (2-1-1) defeated Cullman 3-1 before dropping a match against Vestavia Hills in their opening matches Feb. 18.
Spain Park defeated Austin 4-2 in its final match Feb. 19. Spain Park senior Greg Yund was named to the Lakeshore Shootout all-tournament team.
Indian Springs captured the Lakeshore Shootout B Division championship Feb. 19.
Jake Shuford of Indian Springs was named the B Division tournament’s overall most valuable player. Indian Springs’ Alex Jamroz was named the offensive most valuable player. Colin Simon of Indian Springs was named the defensive most valuable player.
Indian Springs (5-0) won all five of its matches in the Lakeshore Shootout. Indian Springs defeated Oxford 4-0 and picked up a 3-0 win over Southside in pool matches Feb. 18.
Indian Springs defeated Montgomery Academy 3-0 in its final pool match before picking up a 3-0 victory over East Limestone 3-0 in the Lakeshore Shootout B Division semifinals Feb. 19.
Indian Springs defeated Fort Payne 1-0 in the B Division championship match.
