Mr. Michael Young of Pelham and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Wheeler of Montevallo announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Britney Marie, to Mr. John Cecil Dickson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil W. Dickson of Montevallo.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Marion Dick of Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. Don Young of Birmingham, Ms. Martha Young of Pelham and Ms. Pauline Sanders of Alabaster. Miss Young is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Montevallo. While attending UM, she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society. Miss Young is currently employed with the University of Montevallo.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John R. Dickson of Selma; the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul W. Pratt of River Bend; the late Mrs. Irene Stucker of Amarillo, Texas; the late Mr. Alvin B. Reed of Amarillo, Texas; and the god-grandson of the late Mr. Robert Brown of Centreville. God-grandmother is Mrs. Dean Brown of Centreville. Mr. Dickson is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is currently employed with the Shelby County Board of Education.

The wedding will be an event of March 5, 2011, at Montevallo First United Methodist Church.
