HOOVER — A local church is helping to save local homeowners money by recycling Christmas trees.
Faith Presbyterian Church on Valleydale Road is taking old Christmas trees and chipping them into mulch for local homeowners to use on their property, according to a church press release.
Those looking to drop off Christmas trees can take them to the church at any time. Trees must be free of ornaments, tinsel or flocking to be donated.
The church will chip the Christmas trees into mulch Jan. 8 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Free mulch will be available as the chipper works. Those interested must bring bags or vehicles to transport the mulch.
If the weather is bad, the mulch will be available the following Saturday afternoon.
Faith Presbyterian is located at 4601 Valleydale Road, across from Jefferson State Community College.
