Thompson wrestlers defeat Chelsea

The Thompson High School wrestling squad defeated Chelsea 54-21 in a match between the two teams Dec. 15.

Ten Warriors won their individual matches against the Hornets.

Matthew Johnson of Thompson pinned Chelsea’s Michael Waller in the 103-pound action. The Warriors’ Brandon Belser pinned Chelsea’s Zachary Hensley in the 112-pound match.

Thompson 119-pounder Conner Gilson pinned Blake Travelstead of Chelsea. Thompson’s Jackson Adelberg pinned Michael Early of Chelsea in the 140-pound match.

The Warriors’ Jonathan Berry pinned Chelsea’s Damian Tinney in the 160-pound match. Cahman Holder of Thompson pinned the Hornets’ Shane Paramore in the 171-pound match.

Thompson heavyweight David Capers pinned David Downard of Chelsea. Thompson 130-pounder Colt Jones, 189-pounder Levi Stringer and 215-pounder Jimmy Miller each won by forfeit.

Three Chelsea wrestlers earned victories in their individual matches.

Chandler Wood of Chelsea earned a 16-4 major decision over the Warriors’ Hunter Gatlin 125-pound match.

Chelsea 145-pounder Corey Moore pinned Thompson’s Clint Milligan in the 145-pound match. Zakary Van Der Geest, the Hornets’ 152-pounder, won by forfeit.
