High school basketball roundup: Westminster picks up area victory over Jefferson Christian

The Westminster School at Oak Mountain boys’ basketball team defeated Jefferson Christian 58-35 in a Class 1A, Area 8 contest Dec. 9.
Jeffrey Stanford led the Knights (6-5 overall, 2-0 in Class 1A, Area 8 ) with 23 points.
Jake Doggett added 16 points in the victory.
Thompson falls to Tuscaloosa County
The Thompson High School boys’ basketball team fell to Tuscaloosa County 41-37 on Dec. 9.
Demarcus Threatt led the Warriors (6-4) with a game-high 14 points.
Briarwood Christian edges Hueytown
The Briarwood Christian School boys’ basketball team edged Hueytown 48-47 on Dec. 9.
Nathan Fincher led the Lions (8-2) with 14 points.
Jason Laatsch added 12 points.
Indian Springs falls to Oak Grove
The Indian Springs School boys’ basketball team fell to Oak Grove 69-49 on Dec. 9.
Charlie Simpson led Indian Springs (5-4) with 13 points.
Jeff Liu added 10 points in the loss.
Vincent defeats Fultondale in area contest
The Vincent High School boys’ basketball team defeated Fultondale 79-51 in a Class 2A, Area 10 contest Dec. 9.
Bruce Hamilton led the Yellow Jackets (8-2 overall, 2-0 in Class 2A, Area 10) with 20 points. Hamilton added 13 rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Ben McKinney added 18 points, three rebounds and two steals. Keyon Wallace chipped in 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals in the victory.
Dontravious Moon contributed 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Yellow Jackets, who recorded 24 steals as a team.
Cornerstone Christian falls to Ellwood Christian
The Cornerstone Christian School boys’ basketball team fell to Ellwood Christian 64-48 on Dec. 9.
Auston Wingard led the Chargers (0-7) with 14 points. Wingard also grabbed eight rebounds.
Clayton Halbert added 10 points and six rebounds. Blake Odgers contributed seven points. Chase Payne chipped in six points and five rebounds.

Kat Cingoranelli and Kristin Wilson led the Warriors (6-4) with 10 points each.
Briarwood Christian defeats Hueytown
The Briarwood Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated Hueytown 71-32 on Dec. 9.
Cara Medders and Anna Handlin led the Lions (10-3) with 14 points each. Handlin also grabbed seven rebounds.
Abbie Cutcliffe contributed 11 points and six assists.
Indian Springs falls to Oak Grove

Ambria Hardy led Indian Springs (4-4) with 19 points.
Cornerstone Christian defeats Ellwood Christian
The Cornerstone Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated Ellwood Christian 44-41 on Dec. 9.
Destiny Dillard led the Chargers with 15 points.
Kailey Goodwin chipped in 12 points.
