Betty Payne Carden, 82, of Calera passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at her residence.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lloyd Carden; parents Samuel and Troy Payne; siblings, George Payne, Earl Payne, James Payne, Clifford Payne, Bernice P. Walton, Marie P. Guy and Bertha P. Vernon.  She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Carden (Bobby) Blankenship; son, Michael Kerry (Kathryn) Carden; grandchildren, Kerry (Leslie) Blankenship, Lucas (Jennifer) Blankenship, Ken (Lisa) Carden,  Michelle Baird, Aaron Baird;  great grandchildren, Jacob, Mason, and Graham Blankenship, Gavin Blankenship, Samantha Smith, Sidney Laird, Skyler Laird;  sister, Ruby Payne McCain, Hatley Health Care; brother, Rudolph Payne, Tenn. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Historical Society.

Funeral services were held at Northside Baptist Church in Calera Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Bro. Joe Sizemore officiating.  Visitation was held 30 minutes prior to the service.  Mrs. Carden was buried in Enon Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to Northside Baptist Church Seniors, P.O.
