High school volleyball roundup: Calera sweeps Oak Grove

The Calera High School volleyball team swept Oak Grove in high school volleyball action Sept. 27.

A’Kia Harris led the Eagles with 12 kills in a 25-19, 25-17, 25-14 win over Oak Grove.

Harris added four digs.

La’Jacqueline Morgan added nine kills and four service aces. Tierra Robinson recorded four kills.

Kellie Rasmussen registered a team-high 30 assists and five digs.

Indian Springs sweeps B.B. Comer

Andrea Mayo led Indian Springs with 14 kills in a 25-16, 25-11, 25-11 win over B.B. Comer.

Mayo added a team-high 14 digs and six service aces for Indian Springs, which improved to 11-8 overall and completed a perfect 4-0 record in Class 3A, Area 8 matches.

Lauren Plouff tallied a team-high 23 assists, nine digs and seven service aces.

Vincent splits a pair of matches

Kiara Cohill led the Yellow Jackets with nine kills in a 25-23, 25-19, 25-14 win over Cleveland.

Jessica Posey added four kills.

Amber Shaw registered a team-high six service aces and 22 digs. Bernadette Stamps and Posey added five service aces each.

Rachel Johnson chipped in 12 assists.

Posey led Vincent with five kills in a 10-25, 16-25, 15-25 loss to Ohatchee.

Cohill added four kills. Michele Brasher and Courtney Holston recorded two service aces each.

Johnson finished with six assists. Shaw led the Yellow Jackets (6-10, 4-1 in Class 2A, Area 10) with 17 digs.

Kingwood swept by Morgan Academy

Katie McElroy led the Lions with five kills in a 11-25, 14-25, 17-25 loss to Morgan Academy.

McElroy added four service aces and three digs for Kingwood, which fell to 13-8 overall and 5-2 in AISA Class 2A, Region 2.

Karley Chamblee registered a team-high 14 assists and three service aces.

Hope Christian swept by Evangel Family

Brooke Machen led the Eagles with one kill in a 11-25, 9-25, 9-25 loss to Evangel Family Christian Academy of Montgomery.

Hannah Rettig and Machen recorded one service ace each. Aubrey Best, Rettig and Machen recorded one dig each.
