Briarwood Christian School golfer Connor Smith won the 2010 Greystone Country Club Junior Championship Aug. 28-29.

Briarwood Christian School golfer Connor Smith won the Greystone Country Club Junior Championship after carding a total of 1-over par in the two-day tournament Aug. 28-29.

Smith, 14, played up an age group in the 16-18 age division.

Smith fired an even-par 72 on the first day of the tournament. He followed his opening round with a 1-over par 73 on the second day of the tournament.

“Everything seemed to go my way,” Smith said. “I wanted really bad to shoot even par both days, but it started raining the last day and I just flubbed my shot to the green on 18 and ended up bogeying the hole.”

Another highlight during Smith’s play on the junior golf circuit this summer was his 3-under par 68 on  the last day of The Press Thornton Future Masters in Dothan to finish in the top 20.

The Future Masters is one of the most prestigious tournaments for junior golfers, held annually in June.  Smith placed 19th in the Future Masters.
