CALERA — Calera police arrested a burglary suspect Aug. 9 after a manhunt through south Calera and into Chilton County, according to Calera Police Chief Sean Lemley.
“We had a call of a burglary suspect trying to steal some tires at a subject’s residence,” Lemley said. “We had an officer in the area who spotted the vehicle and immediately pursued the two suspects.”
The chase occurred near Shelby County 95 and Shelby County 201 and continued into Chilton County. The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Shelby County Sherriff’s Office also responded to the scene, Lemley said.
One subject remained in the car while the other fled on foot.
One of the two subjects was arrested, but they haven’t released his name, Lemley said. The case is still under investigation and warrants are being obtained to apprehend the second suspect.
