Two men shot in Helena

Two men have been shot on Silver Lakes Drive in Helena, said Deputy Chief Tim Carter in a press release from the Helena Police Department.
At approximately 7 p.m. on Saturday July 10, Helena Police Communications received a call in reference to gunshots being fired on Silver Lakes Drive, near the community park.
Upon arrival, officers found two male gunshot victims lying in the parking area of the park. One other male, who was seen fleeing the area on foot, was apprehended shortly thereafter and transported to the Helena City Jail, read the press release.
Both of the gunshot victims were transported to University Hospital in Birmingham, one by ambulance, the other by Lifesaver helicopter. One was treated and released and the other is still in ICU. Further investigation revealed that a fourth subject fled the scene in a vehicle shortly before police arrived.
Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended this subject in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 11. Names and ages of all involved will be released as soon as formal charges are filed.
The reason for the shooting is still under investigation.
UPDATE: Deputy Chief Carter released this info Monday afternoon: “Further investigation has revealed more detailed information concerning the subjects involved. We are being told now that it may be as late as Tuesday afternoon before formal charges are filed. I will keep you all informed of any changes and/or updates.”
