The Shelby County Humane Society is overrun with adult furry feline friends looking for good homes.
To help place these cats with loving families as soon as possible, the humane society is offering a one-day “sale,” on Saturday June 12, during which the adoption fee will be reduced to just $50 from the normal fee of $115.
“Cats are great,” said Jennifer Russo, director of development at the Humane Society. “They’re low-maintenance, self-grooming, independent and they often have less medical costs than other pets.”
The cats will be for sale at three locations: the Shelby County Humane Society from noon-5:30 p.m., the PetSmart on 280 from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and the Animal House Clinic in Harpersville from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The $50 fee includes all vaccines, spaying/neutering, 30 days of pet insurance and all vaccines.
Russo said the cats are all at least a year old, and most are litter-box trained, but the ones who aren’t will pick up the habit quickly.
“They make wonderful pets; they just want to sit in your lap and purr all day and be your companion,” Russo said.
