The Spain Park High School baseball team opened summer play with a 5-0-1 record June 3-5 at the second annual Hoover Baseball Club Showcase at the Spain Park Athletic Complex.

Led by rising senior pitcher/third baseman Chris Ellis, an Ole Miss commitment, and rising junior pitcher/shortstop Mikey White, an Alabama pledge, the Jaguars finished the tournament undefeated against Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Hoover, Grissom, Thompson and G.W. Long.

The Jaguars will continue summer tournament play by hosting a wooden bat event June 14-16. Spain Park will play host to a few of the top teams in the state, including Shelby County foes Oak Mountain and Thompson.
