17–year–old airlifted to hospital after Alabaster wreck

A 17–year–old Thompson High School student is in critical condition at UAB hospital after a wreck off Highway 31 near Saginaw, according to Alabaster Police Chief Stanley Oliver.
According to witnesses, the teen had been traveling on Shelby County 26, or what is known as Old 31, when he attempted to cross the intersection and was struck by a Ford Ranger pickup truck at 12:44 p.m.
The teen was airlifted to UAB while the man driving the Ford Ranger was taken to UAB by ambulance. Oliver said the second man was in his early 30s and it appeared he suffered from several broken bones.
