The city of Pelham will hold a mortgage-burning celebration ceremony Sunday, April 11 at 2 p.m. at the Pelham Civic Complex in honor of the family of fallen police officer Philip Davis.

Mayor Don Murphy announced the ceremony date during a program at the Pelham Senior Center March 25.

“You all were a big part of us paying off that mortgage,” Murphy said to the seniors. “We would like to invite everyone to come out and celebrate officer Davis and his family with this ceremony.”

The city established the Officer Philip Davis Mortgage Retirement Fund after Davis was gunned down in the line of duty Dec. 3.

The mortgage was recently paid off.

Murphy said Davis’ wife, Paula, will be present at the ceremony and she will share a few words with the public.
