Shelby Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank Alabama State Forestry and Southeast Shelby Rescue. We would also like to give a big thank you to the Kingdom, Columbiana, Summerhill, Fourmile, West Shelby and Calera fire departments for their assistance in fighting the 290-acre woods fire in our community Feb. 21, 2010.

Whether you came to offer your services, brought an apparatus or donated water, like B&B Grocers did, we want you to know it was greatly appreciated.

Most of you know it is tough being a volunteer department, so it helps to know our neighbors are ready to assist when called upon. Thanks again for your help and service.
