Shelby County wrestlers take two of three meets

The Shelby County High School wrestling squad defeated Westminster Christian and the Alabama School for the Blind before falling to Cleburne County in a meet Jan. 28.
Eight Shelby County wrestlers picked up wins in a 47-18 victory over Westminster Christian. Tommy Eremus, Austin Shelton and Gerald Nichols each won by pin. Joshua Reid won by major decision, while Killian Berens, Jonathon Perrine, Nathan Sawyer and Jeffrey Hughes each won by forfeit against Westminster Christian.
Seven Wildcats won their matches in a 48-30 win over the Alabama School for the Blind. Perrine won his match by pin, while Kevin Carpenter, Berens, Nathan Herrington, Eremus, Sawyer and Hughes each won by forfet.
Reid was the lone Shelby County wrestler to pick up a victory on the mat in the Wildcats’ 66-12 loss to Cleburne County. Jacob Oliver won by forfeit.
