Thompson wrestlers win tourney at Tuscaloosa County

The Thompson High School wrestling team defeated Prattville, Tuscaloosa County, Clay-Chalkville Hueytown and Fultondale to capture a tournament title Jan. 18 at Tuscaloosa County High School.
Austin Gould, DeMario Haynes, Brewer Gilliland, Jalen Wesley, Nick Hall, Landon Vincent, Josh Gillaspie, Chris Walker, Austin Markham and Jesse Masters each recorded wins in the Warriors’ 71-6 victory over Clay-Chalkville.
Gould, Gilliland, Wesley, Hall, Gillaspie, Walker and Masters each won by pin against their Clay-Chalkville opponents. Haynes and Markham each won by major decision.
Reed Jacks, Hayden Franklin, Gilliland, Jacob Mayhall, Dylan Gordon, John Austin Jones and Jack Scott each picked up wins in the Warriors’ 67-6 win over Fultondale.
Jacks, Mayhall, Gordon, Jones and Scott each won by pin against their Fultondale foe. Gilliland won by major decision.
Matthew Gilson, Franklin, Gilliland, Gordon, Jones, Gillaspie, Nick Gentile, Markham, and Masters each recorded wins in the Warriors’ 81-0 shut out of Hueytown.
Jacks, Gilliland, Hall, Vincent, Gillaspie, Walker, Markham, Masters and Nick Parten each picked up victories in Thompson’s 48-18 win over host Tuscaloosa County.
Gould, Jacks, Mayhall, Hall, Gillaspie, Masters and Jimmy Miller each defeated their opponents in the Warriors’ 30-24 win over Prattville.
Pelham tops Fultondale
Four Pelham wrestlers recorded wins as the Panthers picked up a 54-27 win over Fultondale at Tuscaloosa County High School.
Cody Wehunt, Chase Mote, Taylor Anchors and Jordan Ward each pinned their Fultondale opponent.
Chandler Wood, Zach Freeze, P.J. Williams, Brooks Haley and Drew Myers each won by forfeit.
