The Jane B. Holmes Public Library in Helena will soon add new content to its collection courtesy of a grant from Vulcan Materials Company.
Library director Daniel Dearing said Vulcan awarded a $3,000 grant to the library to be used for non-fiction materials.
“Our contact with the county helped us decide that we would use it on non-fiction materials, because that would cover a broad section of materials,” he said. “It’s just a broad range of subjects that cover a lot of different age groups.”
Dearing said he expects to purchase junior non-fiction and adult non-fiction books, CDs, DVDs and historical materials.
The library received the grant Dec. 16. The library also received a grant from Vulcan Materials in the previous year, Dearing said.
“We’re really excited to have this money coming in to get the resources in here to the library,” he said. “And this should be a big boost to our non-fiction collection.”
He said library staff is constantly on the lookout for grants and financial opportunities to expand the collection.
Dearing also said since the collection is about to be expanded, this is a good time for Helena residents to make sure their library cards are up to date.
