Mr. Austin Rusaw Blackerby, 90, of Alabastr passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 at home.
Mr. Blackerby was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Turner Blackerby; his parents and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra B. Bruce and Sharon Allen; grandchildren, Rowdy Allen, Dr. Brett Bruce and Heather Bruce Elliot; and great–grandchildren, Kaitlyn Elliot, Daniel Bruce, Tyler Bruce and Kaylee Bruce.
Mr. Blackerby served in WWII in the Pacific and worked at US Steel and Pullman Standard in Bessemer.
A service will be held at a later time for family.
