SouthernLINC Wireless recently named accounting firm Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith of Birmingham as a “Southern Hero” in recognition of their community service efforts.
SouthernLINC created the 2009 Southern Heroes promotion to recognize three businesses from the Southeast that empower their local communities, improve the quality of life of residents and give back to those in need.
SouthernLINC recognized Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith as a Southern Hero by sponsoring a recognition ceremony and by making a contribution to Children’s Aid Society, the nonprofit organization selected by Barfield Murphy.
Barfield Murphy founding shareholders and employees believe in being actively involved in the greater Birmingham community. Giving back to the community is so ingrained in the firm culture that Barfield Murphy provides employees with three paid days off annually to volunteer on projects of their choice.
Barfield Murphy selects firm-wide community service projects where employees can work together with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Arthritis Foundation and the Linda Nolen Learning Center.
