Tim Prince, president and publisher of Shelby County Newspapers, has taken on a dual role and is now also publisher of Clanton Newspapers Inc.
Both companies are part of the Boone Newspapers organization.
Mike and Peggy Kelley, who have been in Clanton for 34 years, are retiring at the end of this year.
“Mike is the senior publisher in our organization, had an important role in building our company as publisher in Clanton, a vice president and group manager of Boone Newspapers. Peggy has done likewise,” said Jim Boone, chairman of Boone Newspapers of Tuscaloosa. “I wish Mike and Peggy a long and healthful retirement, appreciate the privilege they offer of helping us when we need them in the future.”
Prince has worked alongside the Kelleys during his years at the Shelby County Reporter, which is printed on the presses at the Clanton operation.
“Mike and Clanton Production Manager Jimmy Ruff have set the standard for daily use of full color in smaller newspapers, and they have been a benchmark for others,” Prince said. “They have done an exceptional job in printing our Shelby County Reporter products.”
Prince will continue to be headquartered in Shelby County and intends to divide his time between his office in Columbiana and in Clanton.
