The city of Montevallo will give its residents a chance to get into the holiday spirit next month when it holds its annual Christmas parade Nov. 19.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m., and will run along Main Street through downtown Montevallo. Parade participants will line up on Island Street between 5-5:45 p.m.

During the parade, judges will award trophies for most creative, most Christmas spirit and best theme.

Following the parade, Santa will greet visitors at the Montevallo First Baptist Church. The church also will set up nativity scenes in its auditorium.

Beginning at 3 p.m., vendors will set up booths along Main Street, and will remain open until after the parade.

“This event signals the start of our holiday season in our community,” Montevallo Chamber of Commerce President Mary Lou Williams wrote in a press release. “It’s a great opportunity to see friends, enjoy historic downtown and catch the holiday spirit.”
