Coosa Valley went on the road to Ashford Academy and came away with a 14-0 region victory. The win helps CVA improve to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in region play.
Much of the first half was a strong defensive battle as neither team could put together much offense. Coosa Valley was able to get on the scoreboard with just under a minute left in the half as John Bullen hauled in a Phillip Neal pass from 25 yards out to give Coosa Valley a 6-0 lead. Bullen came up big a few plays later as he intercepted an Ashford Academy pass to close out the first half.
The second half played out much like the first half, as both defenses continued to shine. Sam Bullard came up big for the Rebels as he intercepted an Ashford Academy pass with a little over five minutes remaining in the game.
Coosa Valley would seal the win on their ensuing possession as Phillip Neal threw his second touchdown of the night, a 21-yard pass to Ricky Ellison. Neal’s pass to Tanner Wood for a 2-point conversion would end the scoring with Coosa Valley pulling out a big region victory, 14-0.
Coosa Valley returns to action next Friday night as the host Chambers Academy. With a win, Coosa Valley would clinch a spot in the AISA 1A playoffs.
