Olivia Bearden

Olivia Louise Bearden, 19, resident of Shorter, formerly of Vincent, passed away Aug. 19, 2009 at Community Hospital in Tallassee.
A 2008 Vincent High School graduate and current Auburn University Agricultural Business and Economics major, Olivia passed away peacefully after a 14-year long, hard fought battle against brain cancer.
She was a former member of Logan Martin Church of Christ and a current member of East Tallassee Church of Christ.
She is survived by her parents, Wayne and Tamara Bearden of Shorter; sisters, Destinee Bearden of Crawfordville, Ga. and Elyse (Wes) Bristow of Bessemer; brother, Paden Bearden of Vincent; grandparents, Ralph and Monta Faye Bearden of Vincent, and Johnny and Mamie Owens of Alabaster; special pet, Jackson; and a very large extended family.
The family received friends on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at Riverchase Church of Christ.
Funeral service were on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the church with James Mays and Mike McElroy officiating. Interment was in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Alyssa Reddy, Dr. Jerry Oakes, Dr. Jeffery Blount, Richard Brown, Allison Joiner, Children’s Hospital and all of the caring members of Children’s Hospital Clinic 8 for caring for Olivia for many years.
A very special thanks to the Community Hospice Group in Tallassee, and to Brandy Harris Mooney, LPN, who cared for Olivia during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Olivia’s name to Camp-Smile-A-Mile (P.O. Box 551055 Birmingham, Alabama) or the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation at Childrens Hospital.
