Funeral service for Mrs. Melson Owen Long, 90, was Monday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega with the Rev. Tim Childers officiating.
Mrs. Long died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at Coosa Valley Medical Center.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Soapy” Long and son, Robert Long, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Gilliland of Madison; granddaughter, Kim Henderson of Birmingham; brother, Ingram Owen and his wife Betty of Columbiana; niece, Debbie Adair and her husband Jerry of Sylacauga; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to SAFE, P.O. Box 1122, Sylacauga, Ala. 35150.
Pallbearers will be Michael Adair, Stephen Pearce, Scott Owen, Myles Adair, Frank Owen, and Jerry Henderson.
