An Arizona man wanted for numerous sex charges has been apprehended in Vincent.

Charles William Schaaf, 57, is being held in the Shelby County Jail and awaiting extradition to Yavapai County, Ariz. He was arrested by a detective from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office July 17 in the 900 block of Shelby County 83, said Capt. Ken Burchfield, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

Schaaf faces charges of child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, involving a minor in a drug offense, two counts of failing to notify authorities involving reportable offenses on a minor and nine counts of sexual exploitation of a child, according to a news release from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities began investigating Schaaf after receiving reports in 2007 that he allowed a girl and other teenagers to party at his home, providing alcohol and drugs while he videotaped them, the news release states.

Reports also claim several men, including some who lived with Schaaf, were having sex with the girls.

Authorities later obtained search warrants for Schaaf’s home, where they seized a computer that contained thousands of explicit videos and images of children as young as age 9.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office assisted with Schaaf’s arrest.
