The former pastor of the Revival Center in Vincent will stand trial in October for the 2005 shooting death of his wife.

Shelby County Circuit Judge Dan Reeves set a trial date of Oct. 19 for 44-year-old Timothy Dane Tillman. Tillman is accused of shooting Janet Lorita Tillman, 40, at their home on Carr Drive on Oct. 26, 2005.

Prosecutors said Tillman also faces a possession of a forged instrument charge, stemming from a $5,000 check endorsed by his wife.

Tillman insists the gun accidently went off while he was cleaning it, striking his wife in the back. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
