Chelsea city officials will host a cook-out for Chelsea merchants on June 25.
Mayor Earl Niven said the cook-out is to show appreciation for the businesses that help Chelsea continually improve.
“I think it’s important to the city that we have a partnership with our merchants and let them know we support him, and we are very thankful for what they do for the city,” he said.
Niven said he plans to give the merchants an update on businesses coming to the city and ask for feedback on how the city can better serve the business owners.
Niven said since sales tax is the city’s main revenue source, the businesses are essential for the city’s well-being. Chelsea has around 100 businesses with both storefronts and home businesses, he said.
The cook-out, to be held at Chelsea City Hall from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., will feature hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks.
