Columbiana is the place to be on Fridays and every third Saturday night this summer as the town offers great entertainment for the price of just showing up.

Music on Main Street has become a much–anticipated event sponsored by the Columbiana Merchants and Professionals Association and the city of Columbiana. The annual event begins Friday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. with music from Shinbone Ridge Bluegrass Band.

Main Street will be blocked off for you to bring your blanket, lawn chair and picnic and enjoy music under the stars. Music on Main will be held every Friday through August 14 and Columbiana businesses will stay open late for you to browse and shop.

An added attraction this summer will be the antique car show that will cruise in to Columbiana every third Saturday in the overflow parking lot on College Street in front of Sweet Bobby. The show will begin around 5:30 p.m.

Four types of specialty cars, lovingly preserved by their owners, will be featured: original antique cars; custom cars with vintage chassis that have been restored with modern equipment; classic muscle cars; and tuners, imports that have been “suped up.” Also, all kinds of motorcycles will cruise into Columbiana every third Saturday around 7 p.m. The “Cruise In” enthusiasts have chosen Columbiana as one of the four towns they visit each month.

Jim Wallace of Pelham has been cruising for a while. A car enthusiast, Wallace bought a 1946 Ford deluxe coupe convertible chassis from a man in Georgia and has restored the antique vehicle to his own custom designs. It includes an automatic transmission, air conditioning, power windows and an immaculate engine. The maroon leather interior is spectacular as it compliments the same exterior color. Wallace’s vintage Ford is one of the many cars that will be available for viewing each third Saturday.

So, this summer when money is tight, Columbiana offers great free entertainment for all to enjoy: Music on Main Street on Friday nights and every third Saturday, the “Cruise In” comes to town. Come to Columbiana and enjoy a night under the stars with us.
