The Hoover City Council Monday night appointed Paulette Pearson to succeed Suzy Baker as the next member of the Hoover School Board.
Pearson, a consultant and former college admissions counselor with the Hoover School System, was one of three final candidates chosen to interview for the open spot.
The other two candidates were Ronald Braswell, associate professor in the UAB Department of Ophthalmology, and D. Wayne Rogers Jr., managing attorney for the law firm of Rogers and Associates.
The Hoover City Council conducted final interviews with the three candidates in an education committee special meeting Monday directly before the 6 p.m. regular City Council meeting. Pearson’s selection was announced at the council meeting.
The final three were chosen from sixteen candidates who went through preliminary interviews to replace Board President Suzy Baker.
Baker didn’t reapply for her seat, which will become Pearson’s at the end of May.
