The first-ever local business meeting in the town of Vincent, held Thursday morning, focused on ways to both bring attention to Vincent businesses and to make sure local citizens stay home to shop.
Mayor Ray McAllister assured business owners and residents that the town council is working to bring a variety of businesses to Vincent.
“We feel Vincent is a jewel, and we’ve got a tremendous amount to offer,” he said. “We’re just getting started. We’ve been in office since November. Right now, we’re in the black. Things are running smoothly, and we’re working real hard to make sure we stay there.”
He cautioned people not to be impatient, as the tough economy makes it harder to find ways to get it done.
“Money’s tight, and everybody has their hand out for grants right now,” McAllister said.
Vincent Middle/High School Principal Gary Minnick also spoke, urging business owners to consider the school as an advertising and goodwill resource, and to take advantage of that by building relationships with the school.
