Lisa Carden, a teacher at Shelby Elementary School, was given a Golden Apple Award by a surprise visit from ABC 33/40 to her classroom. The Golden Apple Award is presented by Bruno’s, Food World and ABC 33/40. It recognizes teachers who go beyond the classroom call of duty. Nominations for the award come from anyone who wants to recognize a teacher for exceptional service and dedication to the role as teacher. Carden was nominated by a parent of one of her students for her ability to highlight and bring out the capabilities of her students.
