Superior Bank has opened a new full service branch in Pelham on Huntley Parkway.

The public is invited to a grand opening celebration Feb. 5-6 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The branch officially opened Jan. 12. Fox deFuniak, Birmingham market president for Superior, said the Pelham opening follows recent openings in Chelsea, Greystone and Trussville.

deFuniak said Superior had customers in the Pelham market who requested a Superior branch be opened there.

“This area is ripe for the type of superior service we provide as Alabama’s largest community bank,” deFuniak said. “Our commitment to the Pelham area is a long term commitment and when the economy turns around we will already be here and in a position to grow with the market.”

Scott Smith has been selected as the branch manager for the Pelham office. Smith most recently served as a branch manager with First Commercial Bank. Smith also held positions at Compass Bank and AmSouth Bank.

“Pelham is such a growing area and since we opened, so many residents have expressed interest in the type of service that can only be found with a homegrown bank,” Smith said. “The fact we are still opening thriving branches is testament to the fact that our business model is working and that customers want to bank with a financial institution that gives them local answers and support.”

Superior Bank has more than $3 billion in assets with 77 branches in Alabama and Florida.
