Helena Intermediate students went back to school a day early today, in the first of four make-up days incurred when a massive sewage leak forced the school to close in October.

The other make-up days will be: Monday, Feb. 16; Monday, March 23; and Monday, April 13. Those days were either teacher work days or inclement weather days.

Buses will run and school meals will be served on a normal schedule on those days.

A sewer pumping station next door to the school malfunctioned and flooded 60,000 square feet of the school on the night of Oct. 7. The school reopened Oct. 15 after environmental tests came back negative for bacteria. While the school was closed, students missed four instructional days.
