The only thing nice about Kingwood’s game against Marengo Academy on Friday was the crisp, late-September air.
The Longhorns embarrassed the Lions at home, 55-0.
Lions head coach Jerry Stearns said he didn’t have anything to say after the game.
Kingwood (0-4, 0-2) remains winless this season and has been outscored, 180-30, through four games.
Marengo Academy got on the scoreboard late in the first quarter with a 7-yard run by Kyle Schroeder.
The Longhorn senior scored again at 8:13 in the second quarter off a 17-yard dash.
Quarterback Jesse Morgan sneaked in from one yard out with 2:58 to go before halftime.
Marengo Academy lead, 21-0, at intermission.
The Longhorn running clinic continued in the second half.
Josh Montee scored two rushing touchdowns to put his team up, 35-0.
Matt Etheridge and Trevor Johnson also got in on the action in the fourth scoring, scoring from 19 and 10 yards out, respectively.
The only standout play for Kingwood was a 65-yard punt return by Justin Dickinson in the third quarter. His offense couldn’t capitalize though and turned the ball over on downs after four incomplete passes inside the red zone.
Kingwood quarterbacks had three interceptions on the night. The offensive line also gave up a sack.
The team travels to Bessemer Academy next week for an area game.
