Lightning in a bottle as Evangel is 5-0

The Evangel Lightning pounded out four rushing touchdowns and 50 points Friday as the team improved to 5-0 in a 50-0 shutout victory over Trinity Christian.

The Lightning got on the board early as Hunter Burridge scored from 1 yard out.

Following the two-point conversion, Henry Foster went to work, scoring his first of four touchdowns on a 2-yard run.

Foster struck again in the first quarter on a 34-yard touchdown pass to Burridge, and then followed that with a 20-yard run at the start of the second quarter.

Foster was also a force on defense, returning an interception 30 yards for the score to put the Lightning up 44-0 following the two-point conversion.

Jakan Sylestine close out the scoring at the half a 15-yard touchdown run, while Auston Sullivan also had a 1-yard score.

Defensively, Luke Webb had eight tackles and a sack and Collin Hipps had six tackles and a sack.

Sixteen defenders were in on at least one tackle, while seven rushers rushed the ball for the Lightning offense. Evangel is averaging 50 points per game, while holding opponents to 6.5 points per game.

Evangel returns to action Friday as the Lightning take on Heritage Christian.
