The only contention in Helena came in council races for Places 1, 2 and 5 this year. Residents selected Leigh Hulsey to represent Place 1 with 630 votes and 59.2 percent of the vote, Barbara Hyche for Place 2 with 590 votes and 56.4 percent of the vote and Katherine Ennis to represent Place 5 with 566 votes and 54.4 percent of the vote.

Incumbents included Mayor Sonny Penhale, Place 4 Councilman Jerry Pate and Cris Nelson, who was appointed to the Place 3 seat earlier this year after the resignation of Tom Lefebvre.
