Police ended an all-night crime spree when officers interrupted an attempted burglary in the 200 block of Waterford Cove Trail at 4 a.m. Thursday.
Calera Police Lt. Chuck Holcomb said two teenagers, 18-year-old Ladairius Trannon and a 17-year-old male, were arrested at the scene. The owners were not home.
Neighbors heard the two breaking into the house and called police.
The two had already been hard at work for about four hours, breaking into three vehicles and stripping copper from the air conditioning units of three different houses under construction in the same subdivision.
“They were just kind of wandering around the neighborhood,” Holcomb said.
When police searched the suspects’ vehicle, they found the stolen copper and items from all three cars the teenagers broke into.
“We thought it was great that we were able to catch them and clear everything up at once,” Holcomb said. “It was great for us.”
Trannon is being held at the Shelby County Jail. The 17-year-old is in the Juvenile Detention Center.
