Malcom E. Joiner celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends at a surprise birthday party in the Family Life Center of Columbiana Baptist Church.

The party was given by his daughter and son-in-law Lynda and Wyndal Adams of Dothan and his son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Dianne Joiner of Anniston.

More than 100 friends and family members attended and dined on a lunch of southern barbeque. Photos of Joiner throughout his life joined other decorations for the festive occasion.

Joiner is a long-time resident of Columbiana and had a career as a homebuilder and carpenter. He has been married to his wife Jean for 62 years
