Roy Birch Moore

Funeral service for Roy Birch Moore, age 80, of North Shelby County, was at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Bolton-Letlow Chapel. Burial followed at Wilsonville City Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home.
Mr. Moore, who passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008, at his home, was born June 6, 1928 in Kentucky. He served his country in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam for a total of 22 years in the United States Marine Corps.
After retiring, he moved to Wilsonville, where he was involved in the Masonic Lodge No. 510.
He taught Sunday school and worked with youth for several years at Wilsonville Baptist Church. Mr. Moore later moved to Pelham and enjoyed singing with the Pelham First Baptist Church and choir and meeting with friends at the YMCA.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Juanita Moore; two sons, Larry D. Moore and Andrew B. Moore; a daughter, Linda M. (Samuel David) Whitson; seven grandchildren, including two grandsons in the Army National Guard; one great-grandson, who was his PaPaw’s redheaded joy; two brothers, E.A. (Beverly) Moore, Jr. and Louis (Charlene) Moore; a sister, Peggy (Dick) Schell; and a host of other family and friends.
