Local girl scouts want to prove that they can change the world. Mary Frances Bennett and Rachel LeMier, both students at Spain Park High School, coordinated a clothing drive to benefit My Sister’s Closet, an outreach program of the YWCA that assists homeless women with professional attire to wear to job interviews, court appearances and improve their self esteem.
The girls collected 190 suits and also worked with younger troops to create toiletry kits for new residents of the YWCA of Central Alabama.
The girls received a Gold Award for their project. The award is the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and requires hours of planning, community service, and evaluations
