For fine Latin cuisine and maybe a drink on the side, Edgar’s Southwestern Grill is just the place.
The establishment opened in Alabaster on Jan. 28 and occupies a building that previously housed another eatery.
Co-owner Edgar A. Illescas, who also co-owns another Edgar’s Southwestern Grill in Clanton, said he found the new location with the help of a local broker friend.
MENU
Edgar’s menu offers so many choices, it might make the decision making process quite difficult.
However, Illescas is eager to share what he feels are some note-worthy plates.
Those include four House Specials. The first is the pollo escabeche or grilled chicken with grilled onions, pablano peppers, pico de gallo with sour cream, salad and rice.
Other suggestions include the chicken with mushrooms, the smart chicken and the smart grilled shrimp. Perhaps the latter two are called “smart” because they are served with steamed vegetables and Spanish rice – perfect for anyone trying not to overindulge.
Edgar’s offers dishes for the ninos or children, too. There are the quesadilla chinicuil and the “little plates” (a beef taco, beef enchilada or beef burrito served with rice). Children who are not interested in Latin cuisine can order a traditional plate of chicken fingers or a cheeseburger plate.
And don’t forget about Happy Hour! It begins at 3 p.m. and ends at 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Customers can enjoy a nice margarita, mixed drinks, beer, mojitos or martinis.
ATMOSPHERE
Besides the great food, customers can also appreciate the spotless atmosphere offered at Edgar’s.
And seating is definitely not a problem. Edgar’s is spacious enough to hold 115 people.
SERVICE
Anyone who would prefer to have the taste of Edgar’s at their own dinner table are welcome to order take-out.
But those who do choose to dine-in will immediately feel at ease when they are greeted by the smiling faces of Edgar’s employees.
