Roberts-Darden

Miss Laurie Catherine Roberts and Lance Corporal Philip M. Darden, U.S. Marine Corps, were married June 23, 2007.
The late afternoon garden wedding was held at The Gaslight House in Pelham. The Rev. Wayne Crowson officiated the military ceremony, which was witnessed by family and close friends, followed by a reception.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Roberts of Calera. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Roberts of Calera, the late Mr. and Mrs. Billy Smith of Covington, Ga. and the late Mr. Claude Barnes of Social Circle, Ga. The bride will continue her education this fall at the University of Montevallo where she will pursue a degree in psychology. She is currently employed by ReMax.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Darden of Helena. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Thompson of Blountsville and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pridgen of Vestavia Hills. The groom proudly serves as a Marine reservist and is employed in the family business while awaiting a second deployment next spring.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Her sister, Ms. Kimberly Devers, served as her Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Jennifer Logan, Miss Brianne Edwards and Miss Rachel Harrison.
During the lighting of the unity candle, Harrison also rendered a solo accompanied on the guitar by her father, Barry Harrison.
Miss Cassy Bingham and Miss Nikki Marsalis served at the reception.
Mr. Bobby Schrull served as the groom&8217;s best man.
Groomsmen were Gene Darden, John Bynum and Kurt Ingram. Justin Roberts served as usher. The sword detail was comprised of members of the U.S. Marine Corps from the AT Battalion of Bessemer, who recently returned from deployment in Djibouti, Africa, where they served with the groom. They were Sergeant Bobby Jernigan, Corporal Mike Rudolph, Lance Corporal Neil Rafferty, Lance Corporal Derek Levesque, Lance Corporal Steven Kramer and Private First Class Ryan Minter.
Mr. and Mrs. Darden now reside in Helena
