Funeral held for former sheriff

Funeral service for former Shelby County Sheriff James Jones was held at The Church at Brook Hills on Tuesday, July 10 at 2 p.m.
Burial followed at a family cemetery on the Jones property, located in Wilsonville on Highway 30.
Jones, who served three terms as Sheriff of Shelby County, died Friday after a long battle with cancer. He was 71.
Jones began his law enforcement career with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in 1974.
He served as deputy sheriff and chief deputy before he was elected to his first term as sheriff in 1991. Jones retired following his third term in 2003
