Sammie Jean Barkley, 76, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. She was born July 7, 1930 in Thomaston. She was a homemaker and a former resident of Montevallo. The funeral service was held Friday, March 30 at 3 p.m. at O&8217;Bryant Chapel Funeral Home. The Rev. Brooks Barkley presided. She was buried at Thomaston Cemetery in Thomaston. She is survived by her daughter, Martha (J.C.) Earnest of Montevallo; sons, Michael (Cathy) Barkley and Gilbert (Kim) Barkley of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister, Gerry Foxhall of Greer, S.C.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Lee Barkley and daughter, Mary Louise Barkley. O&8217;Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directed.
